According to data from the U.S. State Department, more than 12 million people lived in some form of slavery around the world in 2010. More than 100,000 children in America are exploited by sex traffickers beginning between the ages of 12 and 14, according to data collected by Shared Hope International and confirmed by the U.S. Congress. California Against Slavery (CAS) combats the slave and human-trafficking industries by raising awareness and working to strengthen Californias antislavery laws.
Coordinating with NCM Media Networks to further its awareness efforts, California Against Slavery has created a 30-second public-service announcement, which will run on multiple screens at two movie theaters in Los Angeles and San Francisco for two weeks. The goal of the ad is to educate thousands of viewers about the realities of human trafficking in California and urge them to get involved in efforts to end it. The ad will also support CASs ballot initiative, which aims to help prosecute human traffickers with longer prison sentences and fines of up to $1.5 million, and increase protection for victims of human trafficking by directing those funds toward victims services. The legislation would also require convicted sex traffickers to be added to a registry, and officers will receive a two-hour training on the issue. CAS has set a goal to raise $2,780 to run its ad in seven movie theaters.
Join G-Team and donate $10 to help raise awareness about human trafficking in California. If G-Team members raise $790, then California Against Slavery can increase exposure of their public-service announcement about human trafficking to air in theaters in Los Angeles and San Francisco for two weeks. Each additional $10 raised will go toward funding ad space at an additional theater for two weeks. An anonymous donor will contribute a two-to-one match of each donation raised up to $5,000. California Against Slavery is a registered 501(c)4 organization.
Unlike traditional Groupon deals, G-Team campaigns typically don't offer you a "discount" or "savings." So "buyer" bewarewhen you click "Buy" to donate your time or money to a worthwhile G-Team cause, the only discount you may receive is 100 percent off free, priceless karma. Read more about G-Team.
