imagine1day supports access to education in Ethiopia by building schools and training teachers in rural communities. Since its inception in 2007, imagine1day has funded 37 primary schools and trained 452 teachers to provide education to nearly 18,000 children across Ethiopia. As part of its focus on creating sustainable-education infrastructures, imagine1day's stated goal is that all Ethiopians have access to quality education funded without foreign aid by 2030.
On September 24 at 1 p.m., thousands of people will converge in Vancouver and Victoria and a host of other cities as part of the 1 School 1 Day campaign, producing an hour of motion, including dance, running, cycling, and volleyball, with the goal of raising $100,000enough to build one sustainable primary school in Ethiopiain each participating city. With today's G-Team campaign, you can register online to receive a free admission to the 1 School 1 Day event in Vancouver and Victoria (a $20 value), and a free one-hour sweat session at one of more than 100 affiliate fitness and wellness studios in the community. G-Team members can also access a photo roll from Ethiopia set to Second Narrowss song "Imagine One Day," along with two additional songs, on imagine1day's redemption page.
During the next three years, imagine1day will work with remote rural communities in Ethiopia to build the primary schools. The structure of each school will encompass four classrooms, a clean-water point, and a gender-divided latrine. The organization will also purchase school supplies and furniture to populate the schools' interiors. Less tangible scholastic toolssuch as training teachers, establishing a parent-teacher association, and seed funding the schools' ongoing operating and improvement costswill help to build a sustainable foundation upon which many future generations can learn. Upon project completion, each school will be equipped to support more than 400 girls and boys in educational endeavours, with the goal of helping to propel them into jobs and leadership roles in Ethiopia.
Join G-Team and donate $10 to help fund the construction of a school in a rural Ethiopian community. If G-Team members raise $1,120, then imagine1day can put in cement-and-sand-screed finished flooring for the new school structure. Each additional donation will go toward funding the construction of the rest of the school. All donations will be matched up to $25,000 by Chip and Shannon Wilson.
