The beginner series classes at Pole & Body are designed to teach foundational pole moves and condition upper-body strength in aspiring pole-mavens. Harness the power of your curvaceous body to build confidence and muscle tone. Combine elements of ballet, yoga, and striptease (though you won't be shedding clothes in your class) to strengthen your core and keep you limber. As the seductress embedded deep within makes her way to the surface, you'll engage rarely used muscles, sometimes resulting in day-after pangs of soreness and a confident saunter. Pole dancing promotes body control and balance, flexibility, and grace. The small class size (no more than foureight students) means individual attention, which in turn will mean more eyes on you during impromptu street-sign shimmies.
Alternately, pole parties are ideal for bachelorette parties, birthdays, and brand-new platforms for the community theater celebrations. Parties are held at the Pole & Body studio on Friday and Saturday evenings from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., and 9 p.m. to 11 p.m. Your two hours of studio time allot a half hour for mingling and refreshments, an hour of beginners instruction, and another half hour for taking pictures, showing off, and anti-gravity pole fights.
