The earliest history museums had little actual history to draw on and instead padded exhibits with wildly speculative displays about how dinosaurs would be elected to Congress by the year 2000. See how far we've come with today's Groupon: for $8, you get two admission tickets to the Soldiers & Sailors Memorial Hall & Museum (up to a $16 value). Regular admission for children and seniors is $5, and admission is always free for former and current members of the military.
Soldiers & Sailors Memorial Hall & Museum, which holds a spot on the National Register of Historic Places, honors the men and women of today and yesterday who have served in the defense of our country. Exhibits chronicle the evolution of military technology and detail the impacts of war on society through art and artifacts spanning from the Civil War through the War on Terrorism.
In the Cartoons go to War exhibit, visitors witness the influence that popular-culture icons such as Mickey Mouse played on public opinion and human-rodent relations during World War II. Thor Thulstrups historical painting Cavalry Charge of Colonel Schoonmaker offers a glimpse of the battlefield as the soldiers' actual uniforms, equipment, and paintball guns make their stories three-dimensional. The museum additionally houses two memorials: the Hall of Valor, which pays tribute to the nearly 700 Pennsylvanian veterans who received medals for valor, and Fallen Soldiers, where those who gave their lives during the War on Terrorism are forever remembered.
