Before photography, the only way people could preserve their most treasured memories was by forcing everyone around them to stand completely still for days at a time. Today's Groupon presents a less complicated option: for $24, you get one photography class at St. Louis Photo Authority (up to a $55 value).
Created and operated by professional photographer Edward Crim, the St. Louis Photo Authority sharpens aesthetic eyes with a variety of photography classes, excursions, and advice. Crim teaches two-hour courses with colleague Don Love, keeping class sizes small (15 people per class) to allow for more individualized instruction.
The Digital Workflow course helps budding and seasoned digital documenters organize and preserve shots. During Photographing People, instructors demonstrate how live models should sit, stand, and issue smoldering gazes. Other classes include Bring Your Own Light and See the Light, which illuminate the proper use of camera flash and natural light. Fans of the Great Outdoors can try the Nature & Wildlife course, which details techniques for breathtaking panoramas of mountain vistas and terrifying close-ups of grizzly bears stealing picnic baskets.
The St. Louis Photo Authority website, its proprietors, and talking pictures of its proprietors also share advice online on proper equipment, framing, and more. All classes take place on Thursday nights, and more class dates may be available as the demand for particular courses increases. Check the website for more information and register for classes soon, as space is limited.
The Introduction to Digital Photography course is not included with this Groupon.
